Starting Monday, it’s Christmas in July. Okay, not quite; but it sure feels like it for Amazon and anyone who is an Amazon Prime member. Starting July 15th and lasting a full 48 hours for the first time ever, Prime Day is about to sweep the globe once again. As Prime members purchased over 100 million items last year during Prime Day, we can expect there to be just as many, if not more, purchases this Prime Day 2019.
If you are a merchant selling on Amazon, all of this increased traffic presents a great opportunity to cash in on. But how do you catch the customer’s eye and stand out in all of the commotion? Thankfully, Amazon has put together a social media toolkit for merchants on Amazon to follow to promote their products throughout Prime Day. Amazon describes their toolkit as having “quick tips to build product buzz and win over Prime customers”.
Building Brand Awareness
Amazon provides merchants with ready-to-use Prime Day promotion images, as well as several other templates to feature a merchant’s product within a Prime Day background. To set up for Prime Day, Amazon suggests first building brand awareness through social media. By creating a strong presence on social media, businesses are then able to easily promote products and deals directly to consumers. Merchants will then have a platform to begin talking about the specific Prime Day deals that they will be offering throughout the 48-hour shopping extravaganza.
Perfecting your Social Media
After building an initial social media presence, a business should then start to work on perfecting their social media with steps like clearly showing products on their page and adding links within posts that will take the customer right to purchase. Merchants can then add links to posts throughout Prime Day to the Amazon listings of the products.
Engaging with Customers
Engaging with customers via social is the next step that Amazon suggests taking to take full advantage of Prime Day. Amazon’s tips for boosting engagement includes creating polls to ask customers what they like, giving customers a feature when they post a product on their story, and posting tips and tricks related to the product. To build up hype for Prime Day, merchants can give customers early-bird access to deals, do Prime Day giveaways, or give out promo codes for products on Amazon. Following these tips and tricks will not only help boost sales during Prime Day, but will also make a lasting impact on Amazon sales and brand awareness if used continually.
